This holiday season, the American Red Cross is looking to remind eligible donors to give the most meaningful gift of all: the gift of life. The organization is hoping to inspire more donors to give blood or platelets this holiday season.

Often times the American Red Cross sees a decline in blood donations during the holiday season. Busier schedules, inclement weather, and seasonal illnesses make it difficult for donors to make and keep donation appointments.

The need for blood does not get a break for the holiday season, however, according to a recent press release from the Red Cross. Blood donors of all types, particularly AB, O, A negative, B negative, and platelet donors are all encouraged to make an appointment to donate to help ensure that hospitals have the blood they need for patients this winter.

Those who donate from December 23 through January 3 will also receive a long-sleeve Red Cross T-shirt, while supplies last.

If you would like to schedule an appointment, download the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit redcrossblood.org, or redcrossblood.org or call1-800-733-2767.
